Have you considered the enormous benefits of melons?

Melons are fruit crops that come from the gourd family (Cucurbitaceae), which consists mainly of cucumbers, watermelons, squash and pumpkins. Recently, melon hybrids have received much attention and are of high economic values especially in the Mediterranean and East Asian countries. Melon varieties include netted melons such as Galia and cantaloupes, sweet melons, for example, honeydews and other unsweetened melons.

Melons are characterised by fleshy pulpy nature and with high water content. The benefits of each part of a melon are enormous. The peels of melons are a potential source of pectin, which is useful in lowering blood cholesterol levels. Melons are rich in phytochemicals, which vary depending on the fruit colour, which has antioxidant properties and helps the body to fight against diseases. Usually, melons have a high water content which helps to revitalise the body and keep it hydrated. Also, melons are rich in dietary fibre, vitamin C, folic acid and minerals that are very useful to the body, buttressing the need to include melons in your diet more frequently.

So now the question of the day “Have you had your melon medley today”?
